The Owl's Rest Reviews

The owners,Susan and James, were really welcoming and friendly. They couldnt do enough to make my stay the best it could possibly be, and asked when I was leaving whether they could have done anything to make my stay even better! The answer? No! Everything was perfect. The accommodation was superb clean, comfortable, spacious and warm. The views from the cottage across the valley were superb. I didnt use the hot tub, but Im sure it would have been lovely if I had wished to use it. All in all, an absolutely wonderful week.
We found the cottage very comfortable and very clean. It was a wonderful place to stay, very peaceful and an abundance of wild life such as Deer, rabbits with kit rabbits chasing each other and lots of birds such as Swallows flying overhead catching insects on the wing and returning to a nest in one of the out buildings. A Kestrel could be seen hovering over the rabbits but they remained motionless until danger had passed. We were a bit concerned but the Kestrelleft looking for other prey. All in all it was a great week and would highly recommend this cottage.
Beautiful cottage in an amazing setting, overlooking fields and trees. The only noise was the bleating of sheep! The cottage was lean and very well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The hot tub was especially good!!! Lots of things to do within easy driving distance. Would definitely recommend.
We had a lovely stay from start to finish property had everything you could need Hot tub was great to start the day and end the day. Walks straight from the door. nice welcome pack on arrival. Peaceful relaxing break would return again if staying in Northumberland Susan and James friendly and helpful they have made this a great place to stay.
This premise is fantastic. Finished to a high standard with a location to die for. Sitting in the hot tub looking out over the surrounding fields with just the sound of numerous birds to accompany you. Also the location is perfect for visiting all of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and even the Scotland borders. The hosts are perfect also, give you space if you want it or happy to provide advice and guidance about the area andor chat over a coffee if that is what you prefer. Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

What a hidden gem. We had a wonderful stay at Owls Rest and was also lucky enough to spot one of the Barn Owls whilst relaxing in the hot tub one evening. Weather wasn't the best but being able to come back to such a comfortable place to stay made it bearable. The hot tub was also a real bonus and we used it every evening. I would highly recommend Owl's Rest, you won't be disappointed.
Charlotte

Lovely relaxing place, clean and comfy and everything you need for a few daysweek away. Would love to come back especially as its just over an hour and a half travel for me and was easy to get to and find
Wow! This cottage is magical. If you are looking for peace and tranquility then this is the place to stay. Attention to detail was magnificent and it was like home from home. The owners were so attentitive but at the same time were mindful that we were on holiday and didnt want to be intrusive. We have already ranted and raved to friends and family and have no doubt that we will return in the future. Well done Susan and James on your beautiful hidden gem. Thank you. Paula & Dave

From driving into the parking the grounds were immaculate, and the views were amazing. The property itself was tastefully decorated and incorporated everything you would need for a comfortable stay. If you like a secluded quiet, comfy stay, with great scenery this is the place for you.
Beautiful cottage with great views and landscaped garden. Very comfortable accommodation and all you need for a great stay. Great base for exploring local castles and historical houses and the wonderful coast. As an open water swimmer I had loads of choice for swims but can highly recommend Bamburgh beach, Druridge Bay and Cresswell, plus further north Yellowcraig, Chesil and Seacliff. Chillingham Castle, Cragside fantastic.
Michelle
We greatly enjoyed our stay at The Owl's Rest. The accomodation contained everything we needed and the outside space was delightful. The location was very quiet so a fantastic place to switch off and escape. We just wish we could have stayed longer!
Matthew
Had such a lovely time at this cottage. It was exactly what we were looking for. The guide the owners provided prior to arriving gave us the advanced warning to local facilities roughly 10mins in car and very accurate description on how to get there as sat nav in the car didnt find the property initially. Hot tub was amazing. So peaceful. Loved looking out for the owls and adding to the wildlife journal. If you are up for it there are books in the cottage which provide some local information on sites for walks but for us it was purely about relaxation. Owners kept in touch to make sure we didnt need hot tub water topped up. And the cittage itself is so well equipped that you have washing machine and tumbled dryer to help avoid the mounting of washing on the return home.
Beautiful, quiet peaceful spot, the cottage has everything you need and is in immaculate order. The hot tub was relaxing, and from there we saw buzzards, and the resident owl hunting
