The Dairy Reviews

Robert
Happy to say I would thoroughly recommend staying here. I was a bit worried that the information said you can hear trains from the house so invested in ear plugs just in case. Definitely not a problem I was working night shift and sleeping during the day and it couldn't have been any more peaceful and quiet. Kitchen facilities are really good with a big fridge freezer and all the pots pans I needed which was a bonus as I do love cooking and there was a lovely big dining area to eat work at. Electric heating was a little bit underpowered but there is a wood burner which was great for keeping the place toasty. Planning on staying again soon.
Only door to property has a catch that doesn't work. We had to jamb cardboard into it to open it from the inside. An easy fix, buy a new handle. Its putting lives at risk no to. Property did not have a washerdryer as listed. Broken clothes airer of no use. No vac. Dust pan but no brush! No cleaning supplies. Lovely big telly with broken screen, I.e big purple patches where the display is shot. Cheapest kettle possible. One loo brush between two loos. Some crockery chipped. In all a nice place but we felt we didnt get what we paid for as we had to rough it beyond what we are prepared to do on a holiday. The Dairy is a good name because someone's miking a cash cow without thought of customer safety or satisfaction.
Spotless and much bigger than I thought it would be. Front door difficult to open and outside light not working were the only negative aspects. I had a fall outside the property on the second day but that was not due to anything wrong with property. Would definitely be happy to stay again but would make wardrobe adjustments due to the wind that hits the property.
Elizabeth
Clean property with ample utensils and space to relax. Hot tub shared with several other occupants of other accommodation on site which was not understood on booking. Good chat with Host who described local amenities and who ensured heating was on when we arrived during a cold spell and who confirmed their availability if any problems occurred. Excellent base to explore the local history
We found the property to be outstanding value for money. Everything you could require was in place just like your own home. The property was very spacious but still felt cosy. The only slight problems were that the parking space at the front of the property was a little tight for maneuvering to exit and it was not obvious where waste was expected to be placed. We would definitely recommend The Dairy for a relaxing holiday!
Angela
Just returned from weeks stay at The Dairy. Ideally situated for exploring Hadrian's Wall. First holiday cottage stayed in which has had excellent WiFi. Property very comfortable and clean, you can tell a lot of time and effort is put into maintaining and cleaning property between guests. Heated towel rail a bonus. Didn't need the two duvets which were on bed so had to remove one but sure this will be welcomed in the winter time. Would have been nice to have had some information provided on local attractions, places to visit, local walks etc. Didn't meet the owners but knew how to contact if there had been any problems. Parking not an issue, if you can't park at front of property there is plenty of space at the back. Would definitely stay again.
Just back from a wonderful stay at The Dairy with lovely owners. The accommodation was just what wed hoped for and was very clean and comfortable. We explored on foot and by bike its a cracking area to visit with beautiful scenery and history and wed highly recommend staying here.

Everything was very good including hot tub
Have just returned from a week's holiday and can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Dairy, it was truly a home from home accomodation. The owner was there to meet us upon arrival and offered lots of information to us and are always on hand if you need any help at all
We had a lovely stay at the Dairy, the cottage was beautiful and well definitely be back! Absolutely loved our holiday.
Curtains are shabby and falling off with no tie backs on some. The kitchen blind was filthy. There was dog hairs all over the setee in the living room. The bath panel was off. The shower blows hot and cold all of a sudden. No advice on local walks or nearby places to visit or eat. Just no real effort gone into the cottage considering the price. I was led to believe there was an enclosed garden when I booked. This is misleading on the website. Lack of parking. If it was wet I wouldnt have been able To park on the grass.
Lovely cottage, enjoyed our stay. Would recommend
Absolutely lovely accommodation very snug and warm not far from all shops and pubs. Plenty to do and many places to go. Lovely welcoming owners and nothing was never too much trouble. We will be back in the future.
Geoffrey
Lovely place to stay , clean tidy , everything you need is there , very friendly owner , ideal getaway
Amanda
Although we had a very enjoyable stay at The Dairy, it was a little out dated and in need of some repairs. Lots of cobwebs around, particularly in the windows. The main bathroom was very poorly lit and the shower leaked. BUT this DID NOT take away the home comforts this converted dairy offered. With its lovely big open plan kitchen, dinner and TV space, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plus gorgeous views. Definitely worth what we paid for 7 nights!
Claire
Wonderful family holiday had at The Dairy. Beautiful property in a great location for exploring the area. .
Excellent holiday in a lovely cottage. Plenty to do in the immediate area. Visited several nature reserves, walked along Hadrians Wall and even found a small aircraft museum to potter around. Had one of the most relaxing holidays I have had in a very long time. Highly recommended. Would definitely use Sykes Holiday Cottages again. Thank you.
Steven
We had a much needed break in comfortable roomy surroundings. The facilities exceeded what we expected. The dishwasher was a little insecure but worked fine. The beds were comfortable and a good night's sleep was had by all. Lovely surrounding area for plenty of exhilarating walks. We will be back!
Stayed at The Dairy for 5 nights. Had everything we needed ideal for both cosy days in and for exploring the beautiful surrounding area. Owner most helpful.
Stephen
The cottage is very spacious and comfortable a really good location to discover Hadrians Wall. The decking and steps up to the cottage are showing signs of ageing which was the only downside.
We had a lovely, friendly welcome from the owners. A very pleasant location with lots of lovely walks nearby.
Had a brilliant time, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.
Michael
Our plan was to use Milton Mains Farm as a base for touring the area, Hadrian's Wall, Lake District, and even going down to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It was so easy to find, I kept in contact with the owner Mrs Ackerley on the journey there regarding key handover, and she was there to meet us. She was extremely helpful, and showed us around. Nothing was any trouble. We had a week of beautiful weather, and the area was stunning, the autumn colours were amazing. We would seriously look at staying there again, and would recommend the place to our friends.
The cottage was so comfortable and the surrounding countryside was absolutely beautiful. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, I would definitely recommend the Dairies to anyone.
Our stay at the Dairy was plesant and what we wanted quiet and peaceful the only setbacks were, the hot tub didn't really work as only two jets worked and that was one of the things that I wanted as I have damaged my back, also the veranda and steps are in need of some TLC as planks need to be nailed down also the steps need attention. So saying we enjoyed our stay.
Rebecca
The cottage was beautiful, it met all expectations. It was a wonderful holiday home for myself, my husband and our two friends. The cottage was located between most worth while attractions, I definitely recommend visiting. The only improvement that I will suggest is for the kitchen utensils to be replaced with stronger ones.
Good general location. Quiet. Local amenities good. Visit Talkin yarn nearby worthwhile. Will return for another stay.
Everything was fine just a couple of let downs. The hot tub needs some attention for it to work properly and we had no WiFi connection because of complications they had with their supplier so not good unfortunately.
Lovely property and people to deal with. Lots to visit in local area. Very comfortable stay.
Claire
Was amazingcottage owner was so nice and helpful we will definitely be back
Cottage absolutely stunning, very clean and spacious. Pictures dont do it justice. Will definitely be back
We all had a very good time at the dairy and would stay again.
The holiday cottage is lovely, we had a really warm welcome from Mabel too, the only problem for us was the hot tub, I specifically wanted the use of one for our holiday. We used it once for about 15 minutes as it only had one jet working and it didn't look very clean, I mentioned this before leaving and was told that they no longer charge for hot tub use due to the problems but I would much rather have paid the extra to be able to use it more often had it been in full working order and cleaner.
Felt very cared for before throughout and afterward with sykes customer service
Arrived at The Dairy 210718 for 7 nights myself, husband, great niece and the dog
The link in the confirmation email was to another property. The app suggested that the distance to a local attraction was 2 miles it was 20 miles. The hosts were friendly and helpful and the location was in a lovely part of Cumbria. There was plenty to do and in easy reach of Carlisle. We will definitely go again in the future maybe to another unit.
William
Owners live on site and are very attentive while maintaining our privacy. Any queries we had were answered straight away and they were always very polite. A great place for exploring Hadrians Wall and further north as well as the Lake District
