Thistleyhaugh Cottage Reviews

Caroline
The contact with the owner was first class throughout. We went in winter on the day it snowed heavily and the owners ensured we could get to the cottage safely, offering assistance on country roads to assisting with us accessing the property. They were always available for any queries. The property is situated on a working farm which is interesting. Everything worked well and the hot tub was really appreciated, especially at night for star gazing! Plenty to do in the local area. First class all the way.
Was a lovely stsy. Beautiful cottage with everything you needed. Comfy beds and comfortable cosy cottage and clean. Well equipped kitchen and loved the hot tub, complete with robes and towels. Contact with owners if you needed to. Complete privacy. Cannot fault this place.
Jackie
This was our 2nd visit to the cottage & it didn't disappoint. It has everything you need, the hot tub is fantastic, especially at night when you can look at the stars. Got snowed in one day so walked to the local pub for a meal, which was only a 20 minute walk. Lots to see in the surrounding area. Highly recommend Northumberland Zoo, get there early as there's lots to see. White Swan at Alnwick for afternoon tea. Durham Cathedral & Beamish Museum.
Deborah
A fabulous cottage in a lovely rural location. Good direction instructions supplied. 3 good sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. All very nicely decorated and immaculately clean. Fab kitchen with loads of utensils. Hot tub was amazing. Private with lovely views and beautiful dark skies. Towels and robes supplied. The lounge is huge with a fab log burner but could do with a different configuration of sofas as not enough for 6 to sit comfortably. Highly recommend and we'll book again.
Andrea
Fabulous stay at Thistleyhaugh Cottage just waht us girls needed for our annual get together . Lovely comfortable beds the cotttage is beautiful , well kept and furnished to a high taste .The Anglers Arms is just a short walk away through the sheep fields and serves tasty food ,highly recommend .We were left to our on devices knowing that the owners where just down the road if we need them .Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again xx
Frances
This house was so comfortable. The provision of gowns and towels for the hot tub was a welcome surprise. We were a party of 2 grandparents, mum , dad and 2 children7 and 10. We all loved the house. The kitchen was the central hub for meals, games and chat but having 2 sitting rooms meant everyone could find their own space if they needed to. I loved the fact that all the crockery matched and the kitchen was well resourced. Having countryside, pheasants, sheep and cows all around us was soul food. We holiday together every year in October and this was the best house yet, for comfort plus the position was superb. Thank you.
Lorraine
All excellent, no complaints. Owners very helpful and at hand it you needed them.
Beautiful property allround surroundings, welcoming, cleanliness, wellequipped, warm. The lounge seating was clean, adequate and suitable but, in my opinion, needed some attention for comfort. I am elderly and have difficulty. However, we would return again.
Our holiday was perfect, such a beautiful cottage in an idyllic location with kind and caring owners. I would urge anyone to spend a holiday here. A real feeling of away from it all whilst being in easy access of all the beauty spots and the lovely town of Morpeth.
A great stay at Thistleyhaugh for a week to discover Northumberland. The cottage is of a good size for a group of six we were only 2 with well appointed features. A really good sized kitchen and two lounges. Nice bedrooms, one ensuite and a good sized bathroom. Around 2 miles from the main road down a couple of country lanes. Once on the main road, everything Northumberland has to offer is easily accessible. Followed the online directions to the cottage via the farm, and it was fool proof.
The cottage was beautiful, spacious and clean. It was lovely to stay somewhere so calm, with cows & sheep as neighbours. Thank you.
Just spent a lovely relaxing week at the cottage, beautiful location, beautiful large property. Beds comfy, living room comfy, best showers we've had in a cottage and a huge country kitchen looking onto a field full of sheep and bulls, bliss! We will definitely be returning. Thanks Zoe x
Vanessa
Our third stay at Thistleyhaugh and it was as brilliant as ever. So comfortable and peaceful and really easy to be there with our young family. We enjoyed the hot tub so much, the setting is just gorgeous. We feel so at home and relaxed when we stay here, can't wait to come back. The house was immaculate when we arrived. All crockery etc really clean and ready to use. We loved all the really thoughtful touches like games and the bookshelf. We also enjoyed a fire on a colder day and it was lovely to just sit in the duel aspect living room and look out on all the wildlife.
Great house in a lovely location. Everyone very friendly. Loved it. Our daughter and family who were with us are thinking of going back.
Michael
The cottage was perfect for our stay. It was clean and comfortable and contained everything we needed for our holiday. We would definitely recommend this cottage.
Carole
Brilliant stay , nothing was a bother , great help out through the floods Storm Darragh on the Saturday! Will be back next year , place was immaculate.
A lovely cottage, very well equipped and really clean! We had a fabulous stay, the hot tub was great and the cottage was very secluded for privacy. Great for star gazing too!
Lorraine
We absolutely love the cottage and the hot tub is our best pal. The only thing we found was a couple of cobwebs on tv in sun room and on light fittings in other rooms. Plus an outside light was out, but it was replaced straight away by host. The hosts are extremely lovely people and go out of their way to help when it's needed.
Beautiful little cottage and located just far enough from the farm to be private . .we're already talking about going back next year
As seasoned cottage renters the outstanding features of this cottage for us were the extremely solicitous care we received from Zoe, very very comfortable beds and the tranquil, private location. All other facilities were as expected for a highly rated Sykes cottage. Ideally placed for visiting the many historic sites in this beautiful area, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. We could sit here and write a thesis on this wonderful cottage, but will end saying thank you so much for a fantastic stay.
Robert
The property was excellent , it was a pleasant stay and the owners were very accomodating.
Spotlessly clean and charming, spacious cottage on St Oswald's Way. We had a lovely stay in this secluded cottage with fantastic views. The hosts were helpful and friendly. The hot tub was perfect. We would love to stay again.
I had a lovely time at thistleyhaugh cottage. The property is very clean and has everything you could need for your stay. The cottage has a beautiful garden and fields all around. Using the hot tub with these views is very relaxing. The owners are lovely and were very helpful and prompt if I needed anything while there. There are plenty of places to visit locally and within an hour's drive of the property including the holy island, many castles and stately homes. Rothbury is worth a visit too!
Shirley
The cottage was fabulous. Just about everything you need is provided, including a much appreciated welcome pack. It is in a very quiet and peaceful location. Just perfect if you want to get away from the daily hassles. It is also quite close to many places to visit.
Patricia
Second visit! Once again absolutely brilliant. So comfortable and once we parked our cars we didnt go anywhere, The cottage is beautiful and had all we needed and more. Plenty towels, dressing gowns, toiletries, kitchen equipment, Hot tub fab and our host Zoe called each day to service the tub We were allowed to walk down to the farm to see the new lambs Will return again its amazing
Charlene
What a fantastic week we spent at the cottage. Its beautifully presented and clean and has everything you could need for an enjoyable stay. The hot tub was fabulous and we loved sitting by the log fire to warm up afterwards. The cottage is on a working farm and my children loved seeing all of the lambs and cows and waving to the farmers coming past with the sheepdogs. My 3 year old has decided he now wants to be a farmer when he grows up. We would love to return in the future.
Had a lovely peaceful week staying but handy for getting out and about from ie to Newcastle and the coast, the cottage is spotless with everything you need, my only criticism and its only a small one is maybe a few more coat hangers in the wardrobes and a couple more or sharper kitchen knives, but all in it was a lovely cottage and would defo book again.
Very cosy, comfortable and clean. Wonderful views. A truly excellent cottage. We've been to several holiday cottages and this was the best!
Absolutely wonderful holiday home, equipped with all you need and more, Zoe was amazingly helpful, and quite simply the best stay I have ever had anywhere in all my UK travels. Thank you ever so much 5 stars isnt enough
Absolutely stunning cottage. Such a peaceful place to visit and the hot tub was just the icing on the cake. Couldnt have asked for a better place to celebrate turning 40 with my family. We are already looking to book again, cant wait to come back
Absolutely beautiful cottage and a fantastic stay. Really exceptional accommodation and loads of space and little extras. We will certainly be back! Just one tiny thing it would be useful to pop a sign in the farmyard so that it's clear where to go in order to head up to the cottage...but only a minor thing by way of feedback. THANK YOU. We LOVED it!
Kathryn
Would benefit from a games room in the conservatory for families this didnt bother us at all , just thinking of accompanying children. everything else was amazing couldnt thank Louise and Zoe enough for their attention to detail and going the extra mile when the power cut. Beautiful cottage picturesque location and friendly hosts.
Myself and my partner had a fantastic three nights rest just relaxing at the great cottage had no plans to visit anywhere in the area just wanted peace and quiet which this cottage fulfilled. The hot tub was a bonus. I hope we left the property in good order and would like to thank the owner for cookies and soft drinks in the fridge. I would also like to thank the owner for the offer for paying for my car to be washed. I did not take them up on this offer as my car was already dirty before coming to their property but would like to thank them for their kind offer. We will return again sometime in the future. They have a great property I would like to have something of my own one day thanks again
Home owner was very nice and helpful it made our stay more personal. Would definitely go back and stay there again.
Loved the cottage, loved where it was. The sofas werent the comfiest but we didnt book the cottage to sit there all day. It had everything you could think of lots of games, books and dvds. We would love to go back.
Lorraine
Sofas a bit firm, but that was the only thing I wasn't keen on. Perfectly suitable for families kids and animals, fantastic with animals around. Beautiful hot tub. Can't wait for another trip.
Amanda
Amazing cottage set in a wonderful location. Very private and quiet. Immaculate and bigger than we expected. Very central to all the attractions we love to visit. We will definitely be back!!
The cottage was lovely. In a beautiful quiet and peaceful spot. Cleanliness and comfort were first rate and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay thanks to the thoughtfulness of the lovely owners.
