The Lodgeshirewater Reviews

Lynne
The cottage is lovely and surrounded by gardens and woodland, which you are free to explore. The location is excellent and close to many attractions. The facilities in the accommodation are of excellent quality. The owners, Anne & Peter and really welcoming and the welcome pack is above and beyond anything we have had before, far more than the 'basics'. A lovely, relaxing break and we would 100% recommend it.
Dale
Absolutely fabulous, everything catered for. Locationâ?¦ peaceful, ample parking, bike storage & you can walk to the beaches & local attractions, village shop & pub. Local bus route. Wildlife in abundance. Owners on hand if any issues.

We had a very relaxing week staying in The Lodge at Shirewater. The property is spotlessly clean and in a wonderful location set amongst the trees. Peter and Anne were the perfect hosts and we enjoyed being visited by their two dogs. It was quite special to lay in bed and watch the sun rise over the sea at Embleton Bay.
Peter
The beautiful cottage set in acres of walks by a river is a must, On arrival we found a welcome hamper with enough food to last a week, many thanks
Victor

Gordon
5 star expierence from the cottage to the hosts. Exceptional quality all round. We loved our stay and looking forward to a return journey.
Patricia
This is a stylish and unique place to stay in a very peaceful location but within a short walk of the village. The owners are delightful: welcoming, helpful and thoughtful in terms of ensuring guests have a delightful holiday. The welcome pack was wonderful especially the home made bread on arrival and fine bottle of wine. Milk, eggs and butter were provided in the fridge so no need to worry about transporting from home. Everything has been thought through. A special touch was the provision of things you may forget such as a toothbrush. Very interesting interiors and well maintained gardens.
David
Lovely cottage, has everything, welcome pack a lovely extra, great hosts, great location for walking/beach, secluded and quiet. A fab hideaway
Heidi
The cottage was beyond our expectations. A wonderful welcome from Anne and Peter, the hosts. The attention to detail to ensure a luxurious environment was exceptional. So comfortable and warm. All the equipment we needed (and more) to cook our Christmas meals. The location was perfect for us. Thank you.

Absolutely fabulous. Really enjoyed staying at Shirewater.
Peter
A lovely, quiet and very roomy lodge in a nice location and close to a lovely little village. Also very close to a number of Northumberland's tourist locations. Very friendly and helpful owners with an equally friendly dog.
Judith
Perfect holiday cottage. Friendly and helpful hosts who thought of everything. Special touches included arriving to the smell of delicious home baked bread and a very good welcome hamper including Lodge at Shirewater own label tea and coffee. Spotlessly clean, luxurious accommodation including confortable, extra wide bed, two large bathrooms (one each!), large sitting room and very well equipped kitchen, entrance porch and rear patio doors leading to outdoor seating area and the owners' wonderful and extensive garden which we were free to explore. Sea views from the bedroom and sitting room. Easy access to the coast path for good walks and a short drive to Northumberland's many attractions. An ideal location for peace and quiet.
Anne
We can't think of any extra praise to that already shared in the many other 5 star reviews but just to add we found them all to be well deserved. This really is a perfect place to stay and we had a lovely holiday. Many thanks.
Colin
Lovely cottage with views from the bedroom out to sea. Very well equipped with a fresh loaf of bread on our arrival and a generous welcome pack. Great location only a 5 minute walk from the village which has three pub/bars a village shop and a garage. Bus service for the area was fantastic. Nearest bus stop only 5 minutes walk away from the front door. Walks can be done north to Beadnell or south to Craster via Dunstanburgh castle (which is well worth a visit) Alnwick castle and gardens, Bamburgh and the holy island all within easy reach. Wonderful relaxing week. Thank you
Peter
The beautifully realised Lodge provided us with a most relaxing week in Northumberland. We enjoyed the generous welcome basket and freshly baked bread, with a special mention for the neighbourâ??s eggs and the coffee. The latter was so good that we detoured on the way home to call in at Pumphreys and buy some for home use. We recommend the walk to Embleton Bay and also Etal and Chillingham Castles. But the Lodge makes a great centre for seeing most that Northumberland has to offer.
Rosalynd
Wonderful property, looking forward to our third visit later this year.
Robert
Comfortable property, ideal for a couple. Quiet location, but convenient for the village of Embleton and the Northumberland coast. Helpful owners. Always enjoy the homemade bread.
Stuart
Wonderful cottage.
Sam
Superbly appointed, nothing was skimped on much better equipped with all kitchens and bathroom basics supplied than many of other cottages we've stayed in and owners lovely and helpful, heartily recommend as a base for exploring the area
Annette
Loved the accommodation. Provided with all you could want and extras like the bread, wine and eggs. Did find the chair in the living room a challenge to get out of. But very comfy. Bed was fantastic. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Anne and husband were lovely.
