Grange Cottages Reviews

A lovely cottage in a peaceful location but within east reach of local amenities. However there are a couple of things which need attention. Firstly I have to mention the upstairs bathroom taps as so many others have already mentioned they really need to be changed! You get soaked if you want anything more than a trickle I cant believe they havent been changed after all the negative comments. Secondly the kitchen needs a good clean, the front of the oven was greasy with food splashes and some of the spare oven trays in the cupboard were also greasy. The floor also needs hoovering and mopping. Thirdly, the duvet in the main bedroom was too heavy and warm for us, an alternative form of bedding would have been appreciated. Fourthly, although the hot tub was a lovely addition, which we used, it could do with better lighting we only had the light from the sumner house, which wasnt adequate. Lastly, the TV in the lounge wasnt working, we were informed about this when we booked, but it was an issue for us. It would have been helpful if they could have sent somebody to fix it during our stay. Apart from all that it is a nice cosy cottage.
Eileen
Gorgeous property, we had such a lovely week with the dogs, so chilled and quiet, 30 mins drive to gorgeous alnmouth beach and 40 mins to Bamburgh. We lucked out with the weather so the hot tub was fabulous!
Andrew
Grange Cottage is a delightful property in the middle of the beautiful Nortumberland countryside. It was great to be away from everything. The property is very well equiped with everything you could possibly need. We had a fabulous time!
It is a wonderful property and the welcome packs for visitors and dog were appreciated . The property was everything we hoped . We will be back .
A great base for our short holiday long weekend. We found the accommodation and house to be fantastic in general, theres kitchen was very well equipped and the rooms all had TVs in them helping to keep us entertained after a long day exploring the gorgeous Northumberland, some constructive feedback to help improve things for others or help them be better or than we were. We found that the kitchen was not particularly well cleaned, there was grease on the worktops, the microwave openclose button and also the drawers had old grease stains on them around the decorative edges. I think more attention should be paid to this by the cleaning team between checkoutscheckins. We didnt have a sieve in the kitchen, luckily the friendly couple next door allowed us to borrow theirs. Thank you. The hot tub whilst a lovely area and space was a short walk 30 yards or so across the gravel driveway to get to it. A summer house is provided. Id say you might want to bring a dressing gown and some flip flops with you on holiday, to walk over to the tub area. We didnt realise at first but Towels are provided for the hot tub in the wardrobes in the bedrooms. I think the fences around the hot tub could be slightly higher as it means theres not much privacy if the neighbours want to be in their garden too. This is a dog friendly home, totally knew that when booking and thankfully the upstairs didnt have the smell of dog, downstairs it was present. Theres a great log burner, nice and big and decided to use it on the chilliest night as the living room was quite chilly, theres a stone floor. Plenty of throws are provided but you might want to bring some thick socks and long lounge wear. Master bedroom has an ensuite and the double bed mattress is of a soft firmness. We usually sleep in a king bed at home so took us a few nights to get used to it. The basin taps in the whole house except the toilet in the cloakroom are these lovely looking waterfall taps, however please be careful when turning them on as they splash up soaking water all over you and the floor. This happened to us all throughout the stay. Would recommend to the owners getting these changed. Overall a great stay and base for our trip and like I mentioned earlier, some feedback meant in a totally constructive way.

Absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Property owners were very helpful and kind! Cottage was everything we hoped for. Will definitely return!
Claire
Wow what a beautiful cottage in the most wonderful part of the country. We loved our stay here wish it had been longer! Parking was easy and big enough for our truck, hot tub was a bonus and small enclosed garden for the dogs was great. So many places to visit nearby too. Thank you for the welcome pack much appreciated! Would definitely book again!
Lovely cottage, very comfortable with safe secure outside space for the dogs. Hot tub was fantastic and was taken advantage of daily. We were warned about building work next door, but wasn't an issue. Within easy reach of the coast and lots of great beaches by car. Welcome hamper for two legged and four legged guests...much appreciated.
We enjoyed our weekend away at Grange Cottage. The cottage was supplied with everything we needed and there was a lovely welcome hamper on arrival. The surroundings were just beautiful and we were very lucky with the weather too! Theres a private garden area with a summer house and a hot tub , which was fantastic just to unwind in. Also! We had the best nights sleep, the beds were so comfy , I slept like a baby! We would definitely stay here again, we had a wonderful time.
Our stay last week at No. 1 Grange Cottages, Alnwick, was delightful, the cottage is well appointed, comfortable, especially the beds, and warm! However, and the owners of the cottage are aware of this, the bathroom taps caused us much mirth as they were very 'splashy' and succeeded in soaking all of us frequently. Prior to our visit, we were made aware of some building work being done to No. 2 Grange Cottage. Have to say, the builders were very respectful and pleasant to us at all times and the work did not detract from our stay. Please give a 'shout out' for Neil and Helen in No. 2 they are super friendly and great company, it was a joy to meet them. We hope to return and meet up again one day in the not too distant future. So, thanks a million to everyone involved in our memorable stay. H&T June 2025

Angela
A lovely, comfortable cottage in a quiet and peaceful location. Visited as a family of four. We loved the tranquility of the area, the wildlife and the location just 15 minutes or so from Alnwick. We used the hot tub every day it was the highlight of our stay. The welcome basket was much appreciated and the owners gave clear instructionsdirections before we arrived. Wed highly recommend this lovely little cottage. Its so relaxing yet not too far from places to visit, including beautiful beaches.

Really lovely cottage in a lovely location. Spotlessly clean and well appointed. Very comfortable throughout with everything you could need. The welcome hampers not only for us but for the dogs was such a lovely touch . Enjoyed the hot tub especially at night star gazing. Would highly recommend. The owners were so extremely helpful and very nice , a fabulous stay all round . Alison David, Tilly , Badger & Boofa
Just had a fantastic week at 1 Grange Cottage. Wonderful welcome box in kitchen for both husband and I and our dog Molly. Sarah and Paul a message away if you have any issues, the cottage is comfortable and clean with an inviting fireplace, which we did not get to light as the weather was warm enough. Lovely garden for you to have a read in the summer house or a dip in the jacuzzi, you might even get a visit from the horses in the field next door. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of games and DVDs for the evening. Plenty of places to visit and the beaches are wonderful....would I stay again! Most definitely.
Very nice property, quiet location but ony 15 minutes to Alnwick town. The hot tub was a nice addition and the property has been tastefuly modernised. We were lucky enough to witness the northern lights on a couple of times during the week which was a real bonus!
Graham
Lovely house ,very clean . Sarah was very helpful with an problem I had which was nothing to do with our stay.
Ayeisha
Its a really lovely place, we enjoyed our stay. The treats on arrival was a lovely touch.
Lovely cottage in great location. Taps upstairs should point down not out!
William
The most wonderful place to stay. Gorgeous cottage with every need thought of. Immaculately presented and the welcome hampers for the humans and dog were very much appreciated. The hot tub was such a bonus too! Thank you for having us, we'll be back!
Jonathan
We have just returned from a wonderful trip at Grange Cottages. The communication with the owner was excellent. The property is beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Thank you.
Matthew
The owners have really given attention to detail to make it really homely. A fantastic wood burner with some wood provided. The hot tub and summer house was brilliant and some lovely welcome gifts on arrival they are clearly dog lovers because there were some wonderful gifts for them. There were jacuzzi towels provided also and it smelt amazing when we walked in. The only issue we had is that unfortunately the cottage is shared with an additional cottage with people who own and live in it. They left the main gate open constantly and they said to us that our dogs should be doing their business on the road which isn't ideal for the safety of the dogs. They unfortunately left a blemish on our stay but they are selling their property so hopefully not too long before they depart. On the whole a lovely lovely stay .
What a gem! Just wow! The location, space and cleanliness was outstanding. Thank you for letting us stay
Thank you Paul and Sara for a lovely stay , beautiful property and location and neighbours. Everything we needed for a relaxing time . We loved it
Sheila
Lovely cottage and location. We were welcomed with a beautiful welcome pack for both us and our little dog and had a wonderful week. Would thoroughly recommend and hope to be back in the not too distant future.
Nicola
Well I have to say this cottage is beautiful and situated in a peaceful spot in the countryside although 15 min drive to get to Alnwick main town which was nothing . We loved our stay the only sound you will hear is the animals and birds about the place which was lovely our grandson loved to see the animals round about. The cottage itself has been well planned out they had set out a beautiful hamper for arrival for adults & pets alike very thoughtful , cottage very well appointed and has all the extras like things you could forget , bin bags and kitchen essentials, which we had taken as we have been caught out before. The only reason I did not give 5 stars to this review was due to sleep the master bedroom the mattress was like sleeping on wood and I have a firm mattress at home, never the less the other beds my daughter grandson used were great! More than enough towels bedding and so on. Outside the hot tub and garden area terrific all be it you hve to walk passed the neighbours house and the end if car park but nevertheless it was so quiet no one seemed to bother anyone, at the front of the house the little seating area is small and simply done but we adored it again peaceful & sun trap we loved to sit and have a coffee and breakfast there. Neighbours were lovely also spoke to us and advised on places to eat and each day said hello and asked where we had been. Overall I loved this place and would definitely book again for next year. Just change master bed pleaseeeee
Great cottage to chill peaceful clean and every thing you need for your stay. The host paul will answer any question immediately. There was a great gesture when we arrived bottle of wine after eights and crackers The hut tub was perfect with the summer house at the rear Big thx to Paul
Jessica
The property owners were extremely helpful. They have created a lovely relaxing space which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was cleaned to a great standard with flattering furnishings. We loved the extra touches like a hamper for us and one for our four legged friends. There are lots of walks around the area and some great pubs and shops a short drive away.
Gerald
Very comfortable and well appointed property.
Beautiful cottage, spotlessly clean and modern. Some nice touches to the property which was very well equipped and everything was of a good quality. Lovely area and lots to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but feel the hot hub should be advertised as not adjacent to the property and that you have to walk past the neighbouring house to get there. However once at the hot tub area it is private with a beautifully decorated summer house. The only other issue we had was getting woken up EVERY morning at 4.30am by a nearby cockeral which is the last thing you want on holiday!! However we do realise this is outwith your control.
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Grange cottage! The cottage itself was very well maintained and also very clean, with the added bonus of the hot tub. The location was good, a little further out from things but still very accessible by car, meaning that towns like Alnwick and even more coastal towns were a short drive away. Overall, would definitely recommend!
Louise
Such a gorgeous cottage! So clean and welcoming. A lovely hamper was left for ourselves and the pooches. The children enjoyed all the extra board games. The nice little thoughts of extra towels, fluffy blankets and a few provisions go to show how thoughtful people can be! Thank you for going that extra mile for our holiday!
What an absolute gem. A clean cosy and comfortable cottage in a perfect location with lots of extra touches. Fire prepped ready to light logs to burn treats left for us and the pups thoughtful and kind extra touches. The hot tub was lovely and has a warm summer house to relax in. Stunning location and lots to explore.
Carolann
Spotlessy clean , gorgeous settings loved the Prosecco welcome pack and the dogs ... Spotlessy clean , gorgeous settings loved the Prosecco welcome pack and the dogs enjoyed their welcome pack , cant fault the property we all enjoyed it hot tub area lovely Highly recommend x

We travelled to Northumbria with my parents for a long weekend. The cottage is beautiful with everything we needed. The hot tub and garden were perfect for enjoying the outside after a day out by the coast. Super dog friendly too! Loved everything about it and would definitely return.
Jennifer
Beautiful cottage, and really enjoyed our stay here. Lots of room, lots of nice touches when we arrived dog welcome pack, Prosecco, etc, which was very much appreciated.
What a fantastic cottage. Everything you need and more. Set in beautiful countryside near to a working farm. Enjoy the hot tub and summer house set on the edge of a lovely wood, as you listen to the plentiful bird song and watch as the many different species fly from tree to tree. Take a stroll along the quiet country lane. Cast your gaze over the fields as you walk under the mature trees and watch as rabbit, hare and deer enjoy the quiet evening sunlight and if you're fortunate, you'll get to watch the sadly endangered Common Redstart singing proudly in the hedgerows and ancient oak overhead. The cottage is immaculate and lacks nothing. Couple of pointers take care of the tap in the ensuite or you'll end up with a wet surprise, and use the WiFi code on the router, not in the welcome info, as this has errors. NB. There is a local pub Queens Head in Glanton closed Tues and Wed for drinks but you'll have to travel a little further for pubs offering food.
