It looks directly out over Budle Bay, an important bird sanctuary, with views stretching to Holy Island 11 miles away. This is a modern, well-equipped base for exploring one of England's finest stretches of coastline.

The setting is genuinely special. Budle Bay attracts a wide variety of unusual birds year-round. Shared grounds lead directly to the sea and guests also get use of a jetty cottage overlooking the bay a brilliant spot to sit and watch the water birds up close. The 2.5-mile coastal walk to Bamburgh is considered one of the most spectacular in the UK.

The apartment sleeps 5 across three bedrooms. Two double bedrooms each have a TV and one has an en-suite with shower over bath and WC. The single bedroom also has a TV. A second bathroom serves the remaining bedrooms. The open-plan living and dining area seats six around a Smart TV.

The apartment was spacious, well-appointed and equipped. It had everything we needed. There is WiFi but almost nonexistent phone signal. Great place to explore Northumberland from.

This apartment is in a fabulous location, but it's not welcoming or attractive. My stay was marred by problems of poor maintenance and presentation, almost all of which had already been recorded in the visitors book, in some cases several times. Since there is almost no connectivity (and if you do succeed in ringing the rental office - I stopped on the A1 twice after my departure to try to get through to tell them about various problems - there doesn't appear to be anyone answering the phone). Since this is such a wonderful destination, all this is a real shame, and a lost opportunity. My mark of an attractive rental is that I want to go back, and I usually do. I won't go back here.
